Today we had a STEM challenge, for the STEM challenge we had to make a robot by using string, tape, glue, two green pieces of paper and one black piece of paper. Miss Watherston gave us all a hint so we didn’t mess up.
First we were given the instructions and the paper. Then we had to get Miss Watherston to trace her hand on the black piece of paper so we could cut it out. When I cut my black piece of paper I put one of my green pieces of paper behind it so I could get what I needed. The second thing we did was draw lines where the joints of your fingers are so that you can cut the squares in between the lines and stick them onto the black hand. The third step was to stick a circle of green paper in the palm of the black hand. The fourth step was to make straws out of paper and stick them to fingers and the bottom of the palm. The last step was to put string through the straws and glue the string down at the end of the fingers. At the end if you pulled the string it would lift a finger.
I really enjoyed this project because it was challenging and made me think about what I was doing.
